Corrections, research provenance and replacement map

Research edition · October 11, 2026 · 750 source words

Date: 2026-10-11. The earlier expanded ZIP consisted of ten original link-first reports and ten separately uploaded, much longer supplemental reports. This edition replaces all 20 report files with freshly written, source-checked editions instead of lightly prefacing privacy-first texts that would still contradict the user's preferred mission. The earlier ZIP remains the historical snapshot. The replacements are shorter than some uploaded originals: detailed passages omitted here should not be treated as endorsed facts without separate verification.

Substantive corrections applied to the 20 old documents

  1. Mission inversion: Prior writing treated privacy, anonymity and minimal data retention as the definition of cognitive liberty. Replaced with positive freedom of inquiry, expression, discovery, pluralistic AI and contestable information selection. Individuals may still choose privacy.
  2. Site availability: A supplemental site blueprint called the Resource Navigator, organizations directory, standards directory and evidence ledger inaccessible. Direct public checks found all four resolve. The unsupported “dead end” table is removed. See [S19], [S21], [S22], [S23].
  3. Overbroad claims about nofollow: Some uploaded material prescribed nofollow for all network directory links. Official Google guidance instead recommends normal editorial external links when useful and qualifying paid, untrusted, or user-submitted links as appropriate. [S07][S08]
  4. Model collapse: Previous rhetoric risked conflating representational narrowing with technical recursive-synthetic-data model collapse. These are distinct and must be studied with different measures. [S05]
  5. Guarantees: Assertions about “absolute privacy,” guaranteed adherence to AI parameters, and guaranteed ranking or training inclusion were removed. AG-UI alone confers none of these. [S16]
  6. AI impact causality: Google AI summary link-click differences from Pew are observational (8% vs 15% in its March 2025 tracked sample), not an estimate of the causal effect of enabling AI summaries for identical queries. [S09]
  7. Legal scope: UDHR Article 19 supports seeking and imparting ideas but does not automatically impose a private search product's equal-ranking or training-inclusion duty. [S01][S24]
  8. Market metrics: Broad claims of uniform corporate motive, fixed market shares and unsupported product conversion-rate multipliers were not retained as established facts.
  9. GEO: Google Search Central's current guidance says special AI markup/llms.txt is not required for Google generative Search; GEO academic benchmarks cannot promise live citations or referral gains. [S10][S17]
  10. Research honesty: No claim of “exhaustive crawl,” site code inspection, real AI audit, measured “training diversity effect,” or deployed product was retained without verified methodology.

Citation and verification rules

All newer claims cite bracketed source IDs mapped in SOURCES.md. Source claims and editorial hypotheses are labeled separately. Website page resolution was checked externally on October 11, 2026; no internal repository or analytics permissions were accessed. Original uploads have not been misrepresented as their authors' accepted revisions: the new texts are editor-authored research replacements requested by the user.
